What is the home electrification and appliance rebate (HEAR) program in Wisconsin?
The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates program provides rebates to households installing sustainable electric equipment to help electrify residents’ homes. Residential rebate examples include: heating and cooling equipment, insulation, water heating, and solar panels.Â
Â
This program is available to Wisconsin residents in single-family homes and multifamily buildings, earning 150% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or less. The HEAR program is limited to low-income or moderate-income households.Â
Â
Once enrolled in the program, you’ll choose an IRA-Registered Contractor who will help you select the most suitable qualifying equipment for your home. Harker Heating and Cooling is proud to be an IRA Registered Contractor and your trusted HVAC expert. With over 70 years of experience serving Dane County, we’re committed to helping you find energy-efficient, cost-saving equipment that fits your needs and makes sustainable living in Wisconsin easier. We stay current with the latest legislation to ensure you get the best options available for your home.
How does the HEAR program support sustainable living?
The HEAR program can help you meet your sustainable home goals through installing energy-efficient equipment. This equipment will improve living conditions by reducing energy consumption, promoting environmental sustainability, and enhancing indoor comfort and health.
Â
ENERGY STAR equipment is approved for the HEAR program rebates. These products are certified to meet energy efficiency standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Some examples include electric heat pumps and water heaters, electrical wiring and air sealing, and ventilation.
Â
It’s important to note that rebates granted through the HEAR program are only available when upgrading from a non-electric appliance, and retroactive rebates are not available for the HEAR program.
Â
If you are looking to make sustainable change to your lifestyle, the HEAR program is an excellent way to start, right in your own home. By replacing fossil fuel-powered appliances with electric alternatives, you can reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, lower utility bills, and decrease reliance on nonrenewable resources.
