Kids home for the summer? Try these activities!

Let’s face it.  We live in a very nice area.  Dance Co. and the surrounding area is blessed to have some of the best attractions, places, lakes, and parks in the Midwest.  Here’s some ideas that we wanted to share with you.  All local to us here, in Madison, WI.

Aldo Leopold Nature Center
Located at 330 Femrite Drive, in Monona, WI, Aldo Leopold Nature Center offers many opportunities for you and your family to connect with nature both indoors and out.  In addition to special events and education programs, the indoor children’s exhibits provide a special place for you and your child to learn about butterflies, prairies, native fish, wetlandsd, and woodlands.

Henry Vilas Zoo
Don’t forget, our zoo is open 365 days a year!  The Henry Vilas Zoo has more than 800 animals featured.  Located at 606 South Randall Avenue, in Madison, it opened up in 1911.  They have many events throughout the year.  The kids will love Halloween at the Zoo coming in October.

Space Place from the University of Wisconsin – Madison
Space Place, located at 2300 South Park Street, Madison, has been around for some time, now.  Each year they offer over 100 free, public programs and have their doors open to more than 10,000 visitors.  Space Place has workshops, Star Gazing, and Guest Presentations on offer.  They also have Planet Trek Dane County which is an outdoor, scale model of our solar system.  Go try it you!

Schusters Playtime Farm
Schusters Playtime Farm is a family owned farm located at 1326 US Highway 12 & 18, in Deerfield.   The farm blends nature, agriculture, and play time into one family fun experience.  They have season events too, like the Haunted Forest, the Fall Harvest, as well as field trips and private events.  Did we mention the Cornfield Maze?  Hayrides?  As Schusters says, “The FUN is….in the COUNTRY.”

Madison Children’s Museum
There is so much to do at the Madison Children’s Museum.  We’re a lucky community as their calendar of events, goes on and on, and on.  As they mention on their website, they take play very seriously.  Their dedicated staff is on a mission to create custom-crafted, award winning exhibits, and provide programming that brings all ages together.  Go there to discover and play – in a creative way.
